Here's a shot I recently took - I quite like it but the general consensus is I gone too far with the dark sky - Which I like because I feel it draws your attention to the two people. But Id love to hear what others think about that and the image in general.

There is a bit too much vignetting for me, how dark was the sky originally?

I like this image. But if you cropped off the bottom 1/6 then you'd have the rule of thirds working for you with the horizon about 1/3 up from the bottom. This would eliminate all the dark shadows in the foreground and I think it makes a better image. I agree with Chiefy that there's too much vignette.

In its present form I find the scene unbelievable - and not in a good sense.

I think you've gone much too far in editing.

Cheers for you honesty. In this case though (unless I hear otherwise) Ill put this down to personal taste - my personal taste is to stylistically boost the contrast, and its the one thing I do like about the image, I feel if I was to remove it, I personally would not be happy with the image... I appreciate its not for everyone though.

Had the contrast not wrapped around the side, I could like it, but it seems to creep into the photo.Scrolling, you can, as mentioned, crop some of the foreground out without losing the perspective.

I agree with the vignetting comment. I like the comp. My eye was lead right to the people.

Just me, but way better, still going to nit about the vignette on the side though:p

Much better indeed, looking like it's headed for the wall. You might dial back or eliminate the side vignettes and see how it feels.
