And here I am excited over getting an 85 1.8. lol. Can't wait until I'm as good as you guys and can justify getting nicer gear :) (if that ever happens).

That's also highly recommended non-L lens.

I was excited when I bought my first 85 1.8 too! I liked the lens a lot it just wasn't my FL I preferred on a crop body. I want the 85mm FL on the FF though! I'm not great as far as I think but I really enjoy just doing casual candids, car shows/meets, and anything I'm amazed by. The perks of going professional is just getting paid and getting your work out there. You could always go get nicer gear just starve a bit like me...LOL jk jk don't do that!

Just a few from last night. Fires have been out of control here, so thought I'd take advantage of the opportunity to shoot with all the haze in the sky. Tried flashing the car to get it a bit lighter, but kept seeing the reflection on the paint. P.S. this is where I keep spending all my cash now. Can't afford to keep upgrading the truck and camera :( Hopefully she takes me out more often this fall to get some more moose shots in. :)

I think i'm selling my tammy for the 85 F1.8. Some reviewers label it as L lens without the red ring.

please vote if you think it's a wise decision.

i think the tammy is just for a daddy who wants a walk-around for travel.

It's a nice lens for portraits, which is the reason I'm getting it (I want to go down that route if I can actually find people to shoot!) and I also want to use it at my little brother's basketball games. I heard it sometimes has problems with CA wide open, but other than that it's really sharp and creates nice bokeh.

Just think of your 100 macro - 15 well.. not really but you get the idea.

I think my set will be: some uwa, 16-35, 50, 100, 70-200. meant for FF though.. which will be within a year.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you have to shoot at 85mm or greater to avoid distortion of facial features, whether or not on crop. Plus the focal length on crop gives really nice bokeh (I think).

Just have to make sure you have enough room to move around, of course :) I thought the 50 was pretty long on my crop, but now that I've gotten used to it (it's my most used lens) I find myself wanting a little more reach in certain situations.
