Just a few from last night. Fires have been out of control here, so thought I'd take advantage of the opportunity to shoot with all the haze in the sky. Tried flashing the car to get it a bit lighter, but kept seeing the reflection on the paint. P.S. this is where I keep spending all my cash now. Can't afford to keep upgrading the truck and camera :( Hopefully she takes me out more often this fall to get some more moose shots in. :)

Now I'll know if I see you driving around to take photos, easy to spot the moose sticker :-)

Very sharp!

i cheated a little bit with High Pass sharpening in photoshop then used Topaz DeNoise plugins to remove noise. Then tweak the contrast.

thanks though.

I configured my BBF.

Shutter = AE Lock
AF-ON = Meter & AF Start
* = AE Lock.

it works good coz you're still able to tweak exposure after pressing AF-ON button while the AF stays lock because my shutter is AE Lock. No more hunting while half pressing the shutterbutton. you don't even need to half press because the focus is already achieve.

thanks guys. this make things easier.

I have not liked BBF on the 50D or 60D... it was fine on my XSi but I find it uncomfortable because I depend on my right thumb to add stability during BIF shots.

I do however have one of my buttoms programmed for back-button Focus Lock... If a bird is perched in a tree and leaves/branches are blowing in front of it - locking focus on the bird/subject is very helpfull

check this out. i was thinking of selling my 100mm for the 85 f1.8 lens. what do you think?

i have auto extension tubes anyway and i'm not a macro hardcore.

check out this MTF comparison. the 85 is sharper starting at f2.8

just going to say it vinny - both lenses are sharp to the point where pixel peepers will have to zoom hard to see the difference

other people including photographers won't notice unless you gave them the 4XXX X 3XXX resolution files to zoom in

just get the one that fits in your hand the best

So true I don't ever look at these charts I prefer to see how lenses perform in the real world.

Agree also, and for my money, 85/1.8

The thing is i'm going to use the 100mm macro in a dark church and it's known for being slow in focusing. It's said most macros are.

the 85 is known for being fast in that category. The church is a little dark. The 100mm might be hunting. what do you think? i can't miss a moment in the wedding.

my 100L was pretty fast at focusing

most lenses will hunt in low light - that's why you have get a flash with an assist beam O= though im not too sure if the assist beams count as 'flashes' in the church no flash policy
