Shot my first event last night (will post pics later). I wasn't official media or anything, but I tried to snap a few shots. I used my 50, which was good for getting people on the stage because I couldn't get all the way up there, but it made it difficult taking group shots of people.
Since I'm new to photog I'm just trying my hand at everything, though I still enjoy portraiture the most. Gonna try to be official media at a hip hop producer showcase coming up in LA next month. Hopefully they'll accept me even though I don't really have a portfolio.
So I was wondering, for those of you who shoot at events/concerts, what do you usually shoot with?
I had a hard time shooting events with primes for obvious reasons but now that I have the 17-55 those days are long gone! The lens is pretty damn sharp and with the IS you can shoot at pretty low light conditions without flash. Worth looking into even if you just rent it.

Alex nice shots of the vw dam that's low. I have a shoot booked on tues to shoot a silver e-type that's just been restored from the ground up every single thing on the car has been done. Funny thing is I have a glamour shoot on Sunday and am more nervous about shooting the car... Lol
Wow I'm super jealous! I been trying to shoot an old jag forever! What color is it? If its a bright color try to take it to take it to a neutral location so the car pops out. Do you use any circular polarizer filters? I extremely recommend them for shooting cars!
