If you ever lose your camera (i.e. theft) - or know somebody who did - check this website out.

http://www.stolencamerafinder.com/ (external link)

It was created by a guy who got his stolen - the site checks the serial number of an image "on the web" - and then finds oodles of other photos with that serial number.

so if somebody steals your camera - its only a matter of time before 'your' serial number shows up on the web again.

learned about this over a yr ago but just saw a reward ad because someone got his Nikon stolen - so I shared this link. Hope nobody has to actually use it...

On this subject you can get insurance on your camera and equipment. It's called a P.A.P (personal articles policy). Read more about it Here

Found my old post on this from 4/1/2011:

The cost of the policy is:

$1.49 per $100.00 for Non-Professional

$2.16 per $100.00 for Professional

That is with a Zero deductible. It covers anything that happens to your gear no matter who, what, when, why or how.

Some pictures from the surf competition I went to today. It was held at the local navy base and they only open up the beach once a year for this. The waves were awesome.

Yeah, 1DX is twice as much.

12-14 FPS would kick a lot of ass too...Even if one afternoon's worth of shooting would fill up 714 CF cards.

Hi guys, just a question about picture style.. I know can change them in PP, but what picture style is the best to use for portraits? Is it ok to put sharpness at 7?

What do you guys usually use for portraits?

Our friend is asking me to take their family portrait tom so i want to be prepared as much as i can..

I would personally keep it on Standard and leave sharpness as is until you look at results on the big-screen
