So I was at the USF-FSU game yesterday as a USF student. I had a section 300 ticket = upper decks. Otherwise the 100-200 was right behind the end zone & a lot of my buddies had those tickets.

Anyway.....

I didn't bring my 60D, only my S100 (& iPhone of course). Raymond James Stadium's camera policies are very conflicting & I probably would've been okay, but I didn't want to risk endangering my camera if I was going to be sitting with mainly freshman.

Well, it was VERY safe in section 300... so that was a fail.

But I'm pretty upset that one person I know with a media field pass - lots of the pictures they posted on FB (of all places) are OOF and/or noisy and/or had things like camera straps in the frame.

The pictures are basically like snapshot quality & he was using a DSLR with 2 lenses. His compositions were the usual expected ones, which are always enjoyable, but the actually quality in regards to focus and IQ are no bueno.

Then there's the guy that took pictures for the campus system (we have like 4 campuses) newspaper. 99% of his pictures aren't clear at all. & yes, he was on the field too.

Thankfully, I've seen a gallery that contained pictures from what must be 2 professional photographers, in which ALL of the pictures are perfectly focused & clear.

So, I've been scrounging the internet to find out how to request a media pass, because I am totally miffed at the fact that these guys had media passes but apparently have a lot to learn (excluding the compositions which are standard & "good"). & I'm not looking at these images from a photographer's perspective. Sure, tons of people are clicking, "Like" & saying things like, "OMG I LOVE THIS PICTURE/great picture/amazing/wow" - but these are not pictures I would want on my wall, or my computer, or anywhere to be honest. My phone can produce better pictures!

So, how in the world does one go about getting said media pass?!

Join the campus media outlet? Paper, tv etc.? I got mine via a area nightlife website.

I don't know what tele you have, but its gonna need to be at least 200mm.

I've got a 55-250, which is fine for me with the 1.6 factor. Of course if I was photographing plays, I would need longer & higher FPS, but plays aren't really my focus (yet). I need photos of fans (of course longer would help there too, but yeah) & can probably get a loaner lens from campus if photographing specifically for a campus publication (which I'm not)

Hey, do any of you use the Wacom tablets?

I'm stuck between the Bamboo Create (which I like over the other Bamboos because it includes all of the bundled software the Connect/Splash/Capture models have) - (larger than the Intuous5 small), & the Intuous 5 small & medium....

Obviously I'll be using it for editing/graphics/random drawings. Not sure if the tilt functionality that the Intuous provides would be handy for me or not...

One more from the other night. I'm hoping to get out tonight but I'm not sure if I will make it. Plus I would be going alone which I'm starting to not like because of some not so great incidents last month.
