its a bit late for a timelapse since my arms almost healed but here is a few photos.

so this the first one i took with my phone on my way to the hospital. you can see my hand was already looking pretty bad but not my feet because they were 3rd burns and there is no pain

What you see right now is part of the healing process. I have skin grafted from pigs on my arms to help with the healing. This is how it looks after a few days. The pigs are clinically raised with no hair specifically for this purpose. Damn technology, you crazy. It looks bad in the picture but its really not THAT bad

Well here goes nothing. It may be as simple and logical as having to recalibrate. But did you calibrate your monitor to your printer's output, or to some other standard? I'm assuming you're using Canon's inks and papers. Did you set the printer's profile to match your paper?

Don't worry... I'm sure if I'm taking the wrong approach here someone will straighten us both out.

Oh, well... I may have missed a couple steps LOL. This is much more complicated than I thought... I forgot about the ICC profiles, I think I have those links Pauly gave me bookmarked and I'll go ahead and check that out. The good news is the printer does print really nicely! It's gonna be fun to have around.

That sounds like the best way to start out. The printer software should at least have profiles for the different Canon papers. Ummm... it is a Canon printer, right? ??? After you make a good baseline print then it's just a matter of getting your monitor to look like the print, as much as possible. And after that your prints should come out looking pretty much like what you see on screen.

Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.

Yeah it's the Canon Pro9000 II... I'm way in over my head on this one. Unfortunately don't have time to fiddle with it tonight, I had to bring home some work :(

ME: i wish i didn't by the s100
should've put it towards a second body

NOT ME: why?

ME: changing lenses is a PITA

NOT ME: what is wrong with that one ?

ME: i just can't stand how slow the damn thing is lol
i'm used to dslr speed
i mean like, the last time i had a good point and shoot, relative to the year i had it, was ike 2005 maybe

NOT ME: umm how do you change lens on s100?

ME: so i haven't used a point & shoot since like... 2008?? dslrs every since then
umm... it's a PITA changing on an SLR hello
i miss some shots because i have to switch
sometimes i try to switch fast but it's too late.. & sometimes i know i'm ****ed because i'll have to switch lenses so then there's no point lol
it's just to switch between wide/standard & telephoto
obviously it'll be useful for other times too of course.. like if i'm doing a photo walk... maybe a macro & a whatever
actually then i would have 3 bodies
macro body, telephoto body, wide/standard body
it will be an orgy with all of those bodies

_______________

Anyone else have this addiction of wanting more bodies? LOL

Okay, another printing newbie question... so since I will need to calibrate my monitor to my printer anyway... what then is the point of a monitor calibrating device?

I got the Spyder4Pro, and every time I try to adjust the brightness levels to its liking, it gives me a way different reading than earlier if I don't even adjust and click "update". I read another review that the 4Pro gave them a yellow hue as well. Someone help :o

edit to add: I turned a light off in my room and re-calibrated my monitor... looks much better now and doesn't have a yellow hue. I'll have to match it up with the printer.

more to add: after re-calibration and ICC profiles, everything is close to perfect. My monitor shows a little cooler than what comes out of the printer so with that adjustment I should be good :)
