I debated getting a flip-it for a while, but ended up with the omni-bounce for those occasions when I couldn't just bounce off of a bare wall/ceiling. methinks I'll have to reconsider...

and, since i'm finally back out of lurk mode (I've been checking in both 60D threads for over a year now, but mostly lurk and learn) if felt a contribution was in order. also gives me a chance to show off my new site :D Here are a few shots from what's been keeping me so busy. On top of my normal 9-5 (or 9-7ish, to be accurate) I've been shooting for a local club every weekend. Here's a few from this past weekend. the rest of the set here: http://www.antaresphotography.net/photos/raw-chattanooga/ (external link)

Yes, all but the last one were shot with the Sigma 17-50. In fact, that's pretty much the only lens I use when shooting in the club. as large as the crowd gets, it's impossible to go any longer than 17-25mm and still frame a decent shot

Canon doesn't make a 17-50. It's 17-55.

Or do you mean a different lens?

I have only good things to say about my Sigma 17-50. Sharp as a tack and built like a tank. I'll be sad when I have to sell it in a couple weeks, but I'm sure the joys of a 5diii will more than make up for it :D

My Manfrotto 498RC2 ballhead is not locking anymore. the only thing that can lock it in place now is the friction knob. if i loosen the friction knob a bit, the ballhead is freaking not locking.

Anyone experienced this before?

what new ballhead it is Lis?

Hey Vin let's talk in here so we don't get in trouble at the other threads. hahah

I never had that problem with the ballhead not locking anymore but that does sound pretty lame. Here's the ballhead I'm gonna get with the lever release:

Arca-Swiss Monoball P0 with Panning System - $228.95
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ball_P0_with_Panning.html (external link)

RRS B2 LR II: 60mm LR clamp with dual mount - $120.00
(I would show you the page but the RRS site is down atm)

That's why I put a L bracket on the 5D cause I took off the battery grip. I was in need of a new ballhead anyways and will eventually get a new tripod to top it all off. Right now though, I'm just buying presents for Xmas so I can't spend money yet. The only thing I am doing right now is:

Returning the 35L for the Sigma 35 and save about $400 which I will use to buy some other photography equipment and blah blah.

This has never happened to me as I've never used a manfrotto ball head but this has happened to a couple photog friends of mine. They've all switched to Sirui ball heads now and seem very happy with them. Maybe something to look at.

thanks Mirco. I will look into that.

Lisa, will that ballhead compatible with our herrington base plate? or you'll just plug another plate into the herrington plate?

i'm thinking also of the 35mmL but way expensive, is the sigma version comparable to the 35L?
