Vinz you will find all l glass is sharp that's what you pay the money for, I use my 24-105 in the studio and its super sharp, yesterday I shot a fair bit with my 100l and man that is a sharp lens.
Thing is though most lenses when you get to f8 to f16 are pretty dam sharp and when you make prints I doubt you can tell a great deal od difference.

I agree with this. For my portfolio I printed out an 8x10 I took using my 24-105 at 24mm f/4... and it looks great. Pixel peeping is dangerous... I've only recently begun doing it and have been telling myself to stop doing it so much. More than likely no one will ever zoom in 100% on my full res images... the only things that matter are web viewing and looking good in print.

That's exactly what I believe, for me one of the greatest things I get out of photography is printing my shots and looking at them. I don't pixel peep there is no need ,when I work on portraits as long as the eyes are in focus at 100% it's all good, the sharpening is done in photoshop.

A "fir" coat might be appropriate for the holidays, but won't the needles be a bit itchy on your models? ;)

Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.
