Wow, dang, it is such a great lens, and it pairs so well with the 60D, I paid quite a bit more than that for mine....but I have some shots that I wouldn't have had that I wouldn't trade for the extra I paid.

Bounce it!!!! Direct flash is a last resort. And try a diffuser, a simple slip on like the Stofen Omni-Bounce is a good start.

Question for the 70-200 owners.

How much do you use yours from a day to day basis? Do you use it for portrait or you're using your primes? For me I noticed that since i got the 70-200, i'm not really using it that much considering i'm mostly doing party events. I also do videos in a darker environment.

I used it once in a christmas party and i have to watch out all the time for kids running around. I was afraid of knocking them off with the lens.

I feel the need of the 35 f1.4(sigma) and sell the 70-200 and the 40mm when the price go back up.

So i will end up with the 17-40 for my wider needs(e.g. landscape), 85mm for some portrait and medium telephoto job and the 35mm for indoor event jobs.

I'm going to test my 85mm tonight at a basketball if it fits my need when my 11yo son starts playing.

i know you guys are tired of hearing from me about lens changes but there i go again. I think it's what we call low budget evolution. If I'm earning good now, i would love to keep the 70-200.

My return window for the 70-200 is still up until January 31 2013.

Mine hardly leaves the body, but then again I'm always shooting outside and animals. If it comes off about the only thing that goes on is the 10-22 for landscapes. I've been looking at the 24-70 now to fill that gap since I want to use my camera more inside and for closer subjects. I feel that since it's cold out now that my camera is getting neglected big time.

Just a few from the last couple days. First is a shot of my niece playing with my mom and second is from last night of the lds temple in the snow storm. I too feel like my pics aren't sharp either compared to some I look at. I think my camera might be out of adjustment because it's always off just a little with all my photos. Check out her eyes they look oof to me.

sold it and got myself the 85L

Dr. D, your EXIF is off so I can't see your shutter speed, it looks like subject motion to me.

awilli1715k, my 17-55 is sharper than my 50mm 1.4, however I did have to send it in to Canon to get adjusted when I first got it because it was front focusing. The lens is known for excellent optics.

thanks keyan! just ordered the stofen for it. it will be here tomorrow. i'm becoming quite a fan of bouncing the light. makes for a much nicer image.
