haha that was my thought exactly and that is why i am going 5d3 for you guys that own the 5d3 can you point me in a good direction for decent but wont break the bank flash poppers?

or should i just pony up and get the 600 something flash?

I stuck with my 430 EX II all the way from my XSi to now! It's still one of my most used flash! I had Yongnuo's before but sold them!

oh your not a noob :P haha but i am spoiled by all the cross points in the 7d and that is one of the reasons im going to the mark III because i am spoiled with great af and i understand that the mark III makes the 7d's af look like a kids camera so i am drooling with anticipation.

So...I don't really know about what's special about the cross point, probably why I never want to try it...too scared. xD

they are more sensitive and give you more accuracy from what i understand but my understanding is always subject to being flawed.

... although it appears that VLC player is better IQ than Cyberlink PowerDVD... a little but noticeable.

I never thought about it maybe being an issue with the media player software. I've used VLC for a few years now and always liked the way it worked. I probably use Media Player Classic more than VLC lately. It runs smooth and stable on WinXP for me and, while nothing fancy, has decent features too. And it's also freeware!

Maybe there's some updates you can download for your video card?

Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.

VLC has always worked nicely for me especially since it plays almost all different file types.

Windows 7 was lovely for DVD because Windows Media Player plays DVD movies....

but not so for my Windows 8... unless you upgrade to Win 8 Pro and install something else....

GAMING: so I'm not a gamer but I looked on downloads.com and came across a few Need for Speed Demo games and I've tried a few out wow - its nice to have a PC that can play these older classic games nicely... I've been out of it for a while lol

what free PC Demo Racing games do you folks suggest? I don't want anything where I'm hitting pedestrians or stealing cars - just a good racing game - something I can grow into.

Any pc space shoot-em up demo's to try without too much of a learning curve?

Thanks for the links Russ.

Re: the YN622C.... i just used it in 3 sessions yet, still not so much to say. All i know is it's popping. My experienced with my YN63 is sometimes when they can't see each other, it won't pop.

There's a thread for the YN622C... guys here seems to know more than i do.

That was a fun read Russ, here's what I do with clients mainly corporate head shots and one band I shot is license the photos to them. I never ever give them the copywrite unless they pay a high price which most don't want to. When you license them you allow them to use them for certain uses eg website use, advertising a certain amount of prints or album covers. There are online calculators to help you work this out and the best thing is after the set period of time or usage you get paid again or asked to take more shots to update the company profile.

The band I shot were funny they wanted the copywrite for all the shots, they wanted them for a promo album, web use and band flyers. I said fine and quoted them around £2700.
There answer was WTF that's to much, to which I replied ok so how much for the copywrite to your debut song!!!! Met by silence...lol
In the end they agreed to have them on license and were happy, I have had a few payment from them now and they want another shoot this year to update there promo pictures.

Guys for party events, you don't want large apertures especially group shots to be sure everyone is in focus. And I usually flash on parties anyways.

For this reason and situation... I'm thinking of getting a 28-135mm f3.5-5.6.. For this I can be versatile with focal lengths. It's also good to take candid shots on its 135mm ends. I saw lots of very good sample images in amazon and here in POTN when lights are adequate.

The only negative thing i can imagine right now is the lens creep.

What do you think guys? anyone having this lens please share your thoughts.

Vinz why not just use what you have and close down the appeture. If you need a zoom to use for events I really can't see past the 24-105 it has the build quality to take knocks and weather sealing and super sharp. If your shooting proffesionly you need those qualities.
