Vinz why not just use what you have and close down the appeture. If you need a zoom to use for events I really can't see past the 24-105 it has the build quality to take knocks and weather sealing and super sharp. If your shooting proffesionly you need those qualities.
this. I shoot at events/parties/clubs on a weekly basis, and the 24-105L is my workhorse. coupled with the 5d3, f4 can get decent DOF for subject separation, and simply stop it down for group stuff. here's one of my recent favorites taken with this combo (+ yn=468ii bounced w/ black foamy thing)
