Welcome to the club. Are you new to Photography or just upgrading?
If you're new to photography, I suggest you enjoy first your kit lens and try learn your camera and distinguish what type of photography you're going to. That way you will not end up like me who keep changing lens and losing $$$ in the way.
EDIT: Congratulations! you landed in the most friendly, unselfish and accommodating citizens of POTN. Promise!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes, folks.
I am not completely new to photography, but would still consider my self an amateur, novice shooter. I have an aging/dying XTi with an 18-55 kit lens
I made a similar thread (before I found this one) in the general Canon forum, so I will copy some of it here since it should get more visibility.

My interests mainly would be outdoor, landscape photography, but I would use it as a general walk around camera as well. Also I'm very interested in storm photos, so I am eyeing a Sigma 10-20, or used Canon 10-22 for wide storm structure type of shots.
I'm more interested in doing it "right" the first time, and would like to avoid swapping out lens/blowing through $$ (which probably will happen anyways
) I am very much open to suggestions and recommendations. Interest is definitely there on my end to make this into a hobby.
