...I use it for a couple of purposes. One being authenticity queries; Larger size or better quality copies of the same image, and also for my wife's art creations with colours / shades /tones.

Anybody else have uses for this search capability?

I sell some stock photography online and use Google Reverse Image Search to find instances of my images in use. Also to see if any online usage appears suspicious or in violation of copyright.

Be cautious of downloading other's images for art projects other than for research purposes or private usage. Any derivative usage for commercial work could cause you some issues down the road.

Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.

Congrats Vinz - I've been saying it will be my next lens for a few months now... Maria will have her 85 Calibrated before I get my 24-105 ;)

awaiting my tax return so I can lower the selling price of my 15-85 IS ;)

I've looked at the 17-40 and it could end up in my bag eventually but in the mean time the 18-55IS will replace my 15-85 for wide stuff...

lol :p

I've considered the 17-40 myself since I love ultra wide and I've been using my 5D more and more... but I think I'm just gonna keep and use my Tokina for that purpose. Photos using the Tokina on FF are pretty darn cool.

New to forums here... I think I've pretty much narrowed down my camera choice to the 60D.

Will have to make some difficult lens choices, so I may have some more questions for ya guys.

Cheers!

Welcome to the club. Are you new to Photography or just upgrading?

If you're new to photography, I suggest you enjoy first your kit lens and try learn your camera and distinguish what type of photography you're going to. That way you will not end up like me who keep changing lens and losing $$$ in the way.

EDIT: Congratulations! you landed in the most friendly, unselfish and accommodating citizens of POTN. Promise! :)

Thanks for all the warm welcomes, folks.

I am not completely new to photography, but would still consider my self an amateur, novice shooter. I have an aging/dying XTi with an 18-55 kit lens

I made a similar thread (before I found this one) in the general Canon forum, so I will copy some of it here since it should get more visibility.

tab10 wrote in post #15603875 (external link)
My interests mainly would be outdoor, landscape photography, but I would use it as a general walk around camera as well. Also I'm very interested in storm photos, so I am eyeing a Sigma 10-20, or used Canon 10-22 for wide storm structure type of shots.

I'm more interested in doing it "right" the first time, and would like to avoid swapping out lens/blowing through $$ (which probably will happen anyways :) ) I am very much open to suggestions and recommendations. Interest is definitely there on my end to make this into a hobby.
