Hi All,

I am looking for advice on filling in a gap in my lens lineup.
I currently shoot with a Canon 5DII & 1DIIn. I need to fill a gap between my 70-200 2.8 and my 400 5.6 lens. I'm looking for suggestions for a good quality lens to fill this gap?

Any thought to getting a 1.4x extender? It works great with my 70-200/2.8 (gives me 98-280/4). I had a 2x extender for a little while too, but honestly not use it much (the 1.4x gave me the reach I needed).

I also have a 1.4 tc. I guess what I am looking for is a zoom lens to fill the gap. It will be for general photography.

If it needs to be a zoomlens, you could look at the Sigma 100-300 f/4 or the Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 OS. You could also look for the Canon 300mm f/4L IS.
Honestly, I think it would be a waste of money, in what situations, do you need these lenses where your 70-200 and 400mm wouldn't suffice?

You could sell them both and get the Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 OS with 1.4 converter to replace them.

Canon EOS 70D / Canon Eos 450D / Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 / Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 OS / Canon 50mm f/1.8 II - Canon 18-55mm IS / Kenko Pro 300 1.4 DG / Sigma 2x APO DG / Canon 430 EX II Flickr (external link) / 500px (external link) / lsfotografie.webs.com (external link)

Unless you've got money to burn just use the tcon on your 70-200. Another option, if you want zoom, would be to replace your 400 prime with something like the 100-400.
