Best way to turn JPEG logo into watermark, and insert on pics?

This is yet another one of my probably dumb dumb questions, about which I seem to no absolutely nothing, and the longer I hang out on POTN the more of these I discover I have....

In any case, I am in the process of trying to put together at least a rudimentary FB page to show my pics, so that when I get occasional requests from friends/family/acquaintances, I can point them to something.

In the process of doing that, I went to vistaprint and threw together a simple little logo. When vistaprint sent it to me, it is in jpeg format. I would like to start applying the logo as a watermark on my pics. Two questions about that:

(1) How do I convert this logo to a watermark? Primarily, my concern is that if I tried to insert it on a photo "as is," it would be applied as a little square that blocked out the background photo behind it. What is the best way to convert the logo into something that can be applied as a logo?

(2) Where in my PP workflow would I apply it, and how do I do so? I use ACR and then Elements 9 for all of my PP. I have absolutely no idea at this point how and when I would insert a logo as a watermark during the editing process.

Any insight you all can give me on these would be great! Thanks!

This is straight from the horse's mouth

On a different note, I use lightroom 4 and during export theres a watermark setting you can setup either text or an external image (Converted to PNG for transparency effect). Elements may have something similar or the same.

To convert JPEG to PNG just open and re-save it in paint selecting PNG format.

Alternatively theres a more complex way to get a completely transparent watermark which Adobe TV also covers.

im looking for the same info and i watched the video. thanks!

MY issue is how do i save that watermark once created so i dont have to do the work on EACH and EVERY image i want to display/show?

granted its only about 4-6 steps (shy of actually typing the info) but when dealing with 10-100 images THAT translates to a LOT of work...

i did this very exercise on an image but other than saving the entire creation (2 layer image) i dont have the watermark saved....

-im just trying. sometimes i succeed

If you don't have Photoshop you can buy software to insert watermarks. If elements can do actions use image -> place then layer alignment commands, then the move tool and cursor keys to nudge watermarks into position.

If you are using the logo that you have on your Facebook page it would be very easy to replicate using a path and then apply that and the text in an action. I would suggest you watch this Russell Brown video (external link) which explains the process pretty good. Using a path will keep your lines sharp and crisp. The text is already a vector shape so that goes in easily as well. I use this method in a number of different watermarking actions that I have and while it can be a tad confusing the first couple of times your write this one, it is time well invested. When I want to run it in batch mode I simply select the images to apply to in Bridge and the use Tools-Photoshop-Image Processor and fill in the appropriate settings. I can walk away from a folder of hundreds of images knowing that in a few minutes it will have placed jpg's in the folder you want and ready for your use.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.
