I don't think you were speaking with the CLP reps since that's the refurbished price. CLP takes off an additional 20%, making it come to $1,087.20 before taxes.

Try the number in this thread.

That is the number I called..I assume he thought I just wanted a refurb model and wasn't using CLP.

Call them back and make it clear you want CLP. Riles is correct, another 20% off refurb price which anyone can get.

When you call, make sure to listen to the options as they explicitly mention something in the lines of Thank you for calling "Canon Loyalty Program" in the options
the number i called is 866-4438002 (i did not see the other thread but just in case)
Good luck

^^^ Yep, it's Option 2.

BTW, the CLP thing depends on you having a broken Canon camera (ANY Canon Camera) that is also out of warranty. They will ask you for a serial number and model number. You will likely need to return the old camera. If you didn't have one, that may be why you didn't get the CLP price.

If you , a friend or a relative can't put one in your hands (breakage would involve a drop on the driveway), then Craig's list may have something available for $10-$20 that would earn you 20% off the price of the 7D.

When you place your order, they will ask you what model Canon camera you are trading in. You don't actually have to send one in though. At least I never did, and no one has ever asked about it and that was 7 months ago. They e-mail you a shipping label but no packing slip. The only way to tell that it is from you is in the tiny print on the "Shipped From" address on the shipping label. I don't think that they really keep track of it. The way I look at it is that I saved them $15 shipping charges.

Now before going any further with the purchase, they ask for the serial #. I told the rep my camera was at home and the response was "Call back later,) we're open till .......

When I called, the discount was only 10% on the 5d II. Is the 7D and other cameras 20% off refurb price?

There was a post about three weeks back that the CLP discount for all cameras was reduced to 10%. That's a bummer as you can beat or come real close to matching that at some retailers like B&H, Adorama, etc.
