During the summer months it is a common sight seeing birds attempt to cool off by spreading their wings, opening their mouths and panting like a dog. Today I caught a Red Bellied Woodpecker in the act of cooling off....

Looks a little toasty in that first shot. Well done, Ira. I recently posted a Jay panting but wings were folded, so I guess it was hotter where you are. Thanks for sharing.
