I shot some images last weekend of a friend Wakeboarding with my 7D & 70-200 2.8 form the back of the boat.

I got some really good images, one of the guys was asking me about how good IQ does the 7D shoot in video mode. ??

Im a stills/single images man so I'd like to know if anyone is shooting , wakeboard style of stuff with a 7D ...does it come up OK.

Any tips ??

it does great video. Try a 50mm f/1.8 and shoot wide open to get a cinematic depth of field.

Look at the resolution figures coming out of that camera. Its like 5100x3400. Even if you shoot in 1080 the camera has to crop the file, so you really can't tell from 5D II to 7D as far as IQ. You will notice a difference at higher ISOs though. The 5D will be a little cleaner when image sensor sensitivity (ISO) is boosted as the pixels are a little larger.

For an example of me playing with the 7D in video mode while my wife makes her baked goods. It is another thing to learn to use it and make amazing videos. What I made is typical of people "trying" out the video modes. As far as I know better videos takes practice and more expensive hardware which is something I don't have the time for at the moment.

Sorry for the spelling error I was editing late on a Friday. :P Also the IS on my 17-55 was on it's way out at that point so things might have been more shaky than it should have been.

The video quality of the 7D is excellent.

Point in case, all shot with a 7D
