Playing as usual- even if I do have a stinking cold- down on my kness this AM in the front garden.
Crosseye stereogram of a blade of grass with some frost crystals on it.
Handheld around 1.7:1. Once you have the 3-D image locked, try moving your head.
I keep on seeing a face in the drop. :)
Aplogies in advance to those who can't visualise these. ;)

Nice macro, Brian. The image has a slight vertical misalignment. Try to get more levels in such a stereo in order to emphasise both subject and depth. :-)

Thanks for the comments Balliolman- much appreciated.
This was my first attempt at a minimalist stereo pic ;) only 3 items in the FOV.
Actually following on from the chat yesterday I did a bit more reading about macro stereo pics, and someone else was recommending not to move more than about 1/40th of the subject distance which is about 0.2"- no wonder I found accidental stereo pics in my collection ;)

Yes, the 1/40th rule in principle is a good one. Typically the rule is given as 1/30th. This means the stereobase, or the sideways shift of the camera between shots should be about 1/30th of the distance from the lens to the nearest object viewed in shot. Given your macro you will need to experiment: again a geared slidebar would likely aid you greatly. Keep posting: I enjoy viewing your work.

One major problem with the geared slidebar is , I don't use a tripod for outdoor macroshots- it's too clumsy for my style of shooting, but I do use one for inside set shots of flowers so can try using my macrostage for that, I can quite happily move that in 1mm increments, I'll just have to use the focus ring for focus stacking instead of the macrostage.:D
I've just installed stereophotomaker so hopefully no more vertical misalignments ;) - thanks for the hint on that.

Thanks Kross for commenting,
It actually very rarely snows here (the local council don't allow it because it upsets the oldies) but we do get Frosts:D

Here, Brian, I have removed the slight vertical misalignment in SPM, pushed the image behind the window and added a frame to aid fusing of the image in freeviewing.
