Looking for Storage Ideas

I am currently using a variety of external hard drives and it's time to expand again. I'm thinking of buying a Drobo, but I wanted to ask what others are using for raid 1 storage. I'd really like to hear the good and the bad as far as drive reliability is concerned.
Any feedback will be appreciated.

Covered in my workflow thread. I have no need for RAID, and I have a very small number of large backup disks, mostly to make things simple.

Even if you get a Drobo, you'll still need to back that up no?
I was thinking about the same thing but ultimately went with external drives.

Crashplan +FreeNAS

Get your backups offsite & do RAID storage correctly (RAID 5). Drobo is a proprietary system - if it fails, your data is gone (without professional help).
