dont want to be mean, but I have always found that these standoff shots that are required at most shows are somewhat uninspiring.

Exhibits are tough with all the little lights causing unfortunate reflections. I noticed that you used Auto white balance (WB). I don't trust it indoors. Notice that the very last exposure in the 2nd group of images was of a gray card, & it's not even close to neutral: Gray card: Why your meter may be lying to you!

Thanks for the critic, I found it very useful. Now as part of the learning process. I would like to know what I can do to improve. How about my exposure/aperture settings. Also I went with AWB as I didnt want to take risks, the WB wasnt corrected as I normally shoot raw, and this image was straight from the camera, I only resized, no sharpning, correct AWB etc.

Looks like what I should aim to do now is have a custom WB in place to start with, is there a simple and straight forward way to do this. The grey card bit I will try and do next.

How about my exposure/aperture settings.

Without a tripod, you don't have much room to fiddle with the exposure. But #2 is a little soft, probably from camera movement.
You might have used that white card in #2 to chimp your exposure to a little faster shutter speed. Need an exposure crutch?

I only resized, no sharpning, correct AWB etc.

All images need some sharpening, both on the original & after each resizing for different purposes. Sticky: Sharpening Tips & Tricks, Tutorials, and FAQ

The grey card bit I will try and do next.

Looks like all the direct lighting on the cars was incandescent. You might have tried that pre-set WB.

You gotta study Photography more. These are great for a blog but nothing special. I have not yet seen that Lambo. though? Are they finally coming out of the 1980's stealth curves/lines and trying to be a Ferrari? lol

That is the Aventador. Its been out for over a year now lol. Very sexy looking car from any angle. Before that, I really loved the Murcielago

I would have liked to see a low angle shot of the lambo, almost looking up at it, and off to the side a bit so you see more then just the front end.

Ok guys, these are the other pictures that I was only able to load now.

IMAGE: http://zenet.co.uk/pics/ct_MG_9544_sd.jpg

I was using exposure bracketing. I also went there 2 days ago to take some more pics to see if I have improved based on the comments you guys made, problem is that as it was a weekend, there were loads of kids/people running around affecting my positioning etc.

In terms of sharpening, what kind of sharpening can I apply to pictures like this without going to far, I'm also considering B&W to try and hide emphasis on the shadows of the lights on the cars etc.

Camera: Canon 500D, f1.8 50mm, kit lens, Tamron 17-50 f2.8 VC, 430EX flash, Remote control,Tripod, Cleaning kit.

Good tutorial: Really Smart Sharpening

Why not just wash your car & put it in better light? See the links in my Sig.
