Not sure If this was covered, but will there also be a version without the variable angle LCD ?

Canon will not have 2 versions of the rebel. Just leave the LCD docked if you don't want it out.

I don't see why they would. And I don't see why people dislike flip out screens, you can just leave it facing out like any other camera. I had a flip out screen on my A620 and wish my T2i had one.

My only real complaint about the flip screen is it makes the camera body thicker and more bulky.

True this, I have my G-1 and it is still ticking and I have never broke the flip screen on it.
