Has anyone had any experience with tethering the 1D MK111 with an IPAD 2, I understand you need an IPRO X2card plus other apps, and Jailbreak the IPAD.

Any comments appreciated.

i think you can do it via a laptop. ipad talks to laptop, laptop controls camera.

do you want to wire the ipad to the camera + jailbreak or does the card include a wireless link?

Its achieved wirelessly by an Eye Fi card (cost $130) plus other Apps, you also have to Jailbreak the iPad.

Your the only one that replied, so Im assuming its not that well known. I thought it would be a handy tool to have when doing a shoot, the iPad is easy to carry around and I would be able to see the image straight away on a bigger screen rather than the LCD on the camera

I have used the Eye-Fi card and the Eye-Fi app on the original iPad without a laptop. Jailbreak was not required. I would think the same applies to the iPad2.

EYE Fi Mobile X2 will do the trick, the only way to get images on your ipad from your camera in the field, and you probably meant 1DMK III not 111, lol if they are already making the 111 version of the 1D then man time flew!

Don't you need a hotspot or wifi connection, otherwise I think you need to jailbreak the ipad/iphone. anyone have a method to share for stand-alone camera to i-pad tethering?

It's very simple. I have a 1d mark Iv a eye-fi connect 2card which is one of the cheaper cards. When you get your eye-fi card, install the program on your Mac or pc, set the card up for direct mode using the eye-fi settings. Install the free eye-fi app on your iPad.
I use An app called shuttersnitch. It makes uploading more seamless.
No need to jailbreak or buy the expensive eye-fi cards. I use it as a quick way to view my photos. Since I have a MK IV, I upload my raw files to the Cf card in my camera and use the sd card for upload to my iPad. If you set you sd card to jpeg and small file, they will upload to your iPad much quicker.
Works great!

Al

No need to Jailbreak the iPad; that was needed some time ago but not anymore. You can create an ad-hoc network anywhere.

Here is some good information on tethering with the Eye-Fi to - http://tethertalk.com …-workstation-eye-fi-card/ (external link)

So after a bit of research I got an Eye-Fi mobile X2. Any of the current X2 models support "Direct Mode" which makes any other components or software unnecessary to send jpg files to iPhone, iPad, Android. It can use any wifi to send to a computer, and for an extra subscription you can use hotspots to send to the cloud. Works well with my 1DmII so certainly newer cameras will be compatible too, just check the website http://www.eye.fi/ (external link)
