Basically, and artistically it sucks. Soccer-ball in a marsh... is all I see. There is no kid with a snorkel trying to retrieve it unsuccessfully or a boat or anything....too much sky as well. The subject matter is just completely NOT still life, and almost annoying for the most part because it is color and the soccer ball is modern. Other than that you got a nice sky and a nice reflection on the water. Your sky-to-water gradient is very nice. For a stop-and-snap *thumbs up*

Just sayin....That ball was made in china and I can almost smell the plastic polluting the water. Of course I did go to college so I don't really have a problem telling people my educated guess :D

P.S. If it were some off-white soccer ball that looked aged in a full color image then it might be better.

Exposure looks fine, color is great, composition is OK. I'd clone out the soccer ball.

Personally, I kinda like it. The ball (soccer/football) kinda makes you say wtf is that doing there, like there is a story behind it. Colors all really pop, and the composition is nice. It's not like you stacked a bunch of rocks or something.

I agree. It makes the photo different and unexpected.

It seems that the ball and the scenery are competing for my attention. I do think that if the subject played a bigger part of the photo it would have more of a story and define where my attention should go. Such as Static Media's suggestion.

There is no kid with a snorkel trying to retrieve it unsuccessfully or a boat or anything

I do really like the photo

I like it, it looks lonely..... Like you'd expect some kid to come retrieve it bc he kicked it out there on accident, or maybe he kicked it away and is giving up on his soccer dreams. Who knows.
I like it.... Lot of mystery

I do agree with less sky

That's not a football. It might be a soccer ball - or some alien space probe camouflaged to look like one. In any case I think there's too much sky. Since the upper cloud is not reflected, I'd crop off the top leaving a square frame.

In the Uk, it is a football;) I like the colors in this one, the ball neither adds nor detracts for me.

Quite a few thoughts came to mind after reading those posts, but since you went to college , I suppose you could make another educated guess without me explicitly telling you what I think about your comments.

To the OP, I think the image would be more appealing with a horizontal crop that removes the large cloud at the top and a bit of grass from the bottom. Might make a nice Facebook cover-photo for anybody who likes soccer/(euro)football.

I think it is cool but I do think that you might want to crop out some of the sky. Nice job.
