Basically, and artistically it sucks. ............... The subject matter is just completely NOT still life, and almost annoying for the most part....

then you would also know that art is Subjective to the indivuals viewing it the term Art itself is extreamly loose, i wouldnt call lights stuck on the wall or a shed hanging from the ceiling Art yet there worth millions inside the tate modern are highly regarded and also to me they have nothing to do with still life, yet they are (or where) in that section. Art is subjective.

but thats just my opinion :)

anyway i really like the shot, i would crop out the sky and just a tad of the foreground to balance it a little more, i would also try black and white the tone of the ball might look interesting and would stand out, and again i would also try an old looking type of edit.

the image reminds me of a windows screensaver :)

Basically, and artistically it sucks. Soccer-ball in a marsh... is all I see. There is no kid with a snorkel trying to retrieve it unsuccessfully or a boat or anything....too much sky as well. The subject matter is just completely NOT still life, and almost annoying for the most part because it is color and the soccer ball is modern. Other than that you got a nice sky and a nice reflection on the water. Your sky-to-water gradient is very nice. For a stop-and-snap *thumbs up*

Damm!

I should never start a critique by reading the opinion of others. Not that it has an impact but that I want to respond to some of the issues raised and that is not advised in a critique. Personally the soccer ball puts a date on the calendar as to when this image was taken. Think 300 years from now. How often do you see a soccer (football) in a great scenic? Not all that often. Looks like a great day for a ride. The composition is solid and the soccer ball adds interest as an unnatural element in a very natural environment.

sell it ... "is your game wet?"

Every time we see a photo, even one we dislike, we should each try to imagine a series of photos in which that photo would be part of a coherent whole. I find that I can imagine such a series for this image; and that's something.
