The kennel where we take our Ridgeback had a "Feliz Navidog" party, so I took the 1D2N and new 24-105/4L ... didn't want to use a flash so pushed the machine to ISO1600 and got these results:

These turned out great! I just got my new lens also and did a few practice shots at a poinsettia. Nobody made any comments though in the Still Life area threads. I did use my flash though. I will post it here on another thread.

The low noise level in all the shots is simply amazing. I know that resizing the images for the web helps a lot, but when I resize 1600ISO shots from my 350D I do not obtain such a wonderful result.

Great shots. Does that lens extend out when it zooms or is it internal?

You must be underexposing your shots or something. I can do that just fine with mine.

If you downsize any image by this size it will be sharp. :)

PeaP -- lens extends a bit with change in focal length; it's not enough to be worrisome.

The pictures above were taken as JPGs with some built-in sharpening by the camera; a few of them I also sharpened in PS-E4. Here is a 100% crop with no additional sharpening ... note that this image (like the ones above) has also been "double-compressed" now, once by the camera and then once when edited, resized, and saved for web ...
