They were doing the 'fauxtographer' a favor, or were they trying to save money? They should have hired a real wedding photographer, and do the friend the favor of letting him be the second to help with his portfolio.... :confused:

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

I shoot many weddings every year, and had the horror of losing a card on a destination wedding one time. However, I found out the next day, my wife who is my back up photographer had backed the card up on a portable drive before I lost it. Thank goodness!

I can't begin to tell you the rigor we go into now to protect the cards. They are double backed up immediately after being pulled from the camera.

Who puts your memory card in your wallet.

"a budding professional photographer" as the articles says.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda.....doesn't mean a hill of beans to the couple now does it.
If I were him and that foolish I would be offering to pay for the mock wedding photo's. After all how can he live with himself for being so STUPID!

What kind of budding photographer would take out the memory card and put it in his wallet? Surely putting it in his camera bag would have made more sense. It's even harder to believe that a week after this VERY important event he still hadn't uploaded the images to his computer AND backed them up several times over. I feel terrible for the couple and their friends and relatives who would have been so looking forward to seeing the photographs of their special day.

Who has ALL the images on a 16GB card? Sounds like a jpeg shooter. Feel bad for the couple though.

oh ye, and people said the same thing when 4gb came out. I even remember people grumbling about putting all their eggs in one basket when 1gb were considered huge;
Advice was to use 4 250mb cards instead.

Ifcourse, you might as well go back to 128mb, the size of my first sd card.
But, considering the MPs in cameras now, 12-16mp, using 16gb isnt a bad idea.
Or, why not reduce MPs down to say 6-10mps, then we wont even need 16gbs.
