Why do so many posts in here capitalize everything and put extra spaces in for the thread titles?

Why do people have flashy neon lights in front of their stores that say (O P E N) or (W E L C O M E) ?

To signify that the business is open. This isn't a business, nor does it ever really close, so that seems an irrelevant comparison.

Numenorean, As a matter of fact this is related to business too. I upload my work here so I can get some C&C, which will shed some light on my weak areas and things that I've missed, and all will lead me to get better by time and increase my business. However, I do name and write my topics that way, and I can name it anything I want as long as it's not offensive to others.

Why do people post in this sub without sharing? Says "Photo Sharing" right?
I would imagine search engines will not find words with extra spaces since they are not words.

I did my doctoral thesis on the use of ALL CAPS.

Interesting read here...
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_caps (external link)

All-capital print greatly retards speed of reading in comparison with lower-case type. Also, most readers judge all capitals to be less legible. Faster reading of the lower-case print is due to the characteristic word forms furnished by this type. This permits reading by word units, while all capitals tend to be read letter by letter. Furthermore, since all-capital printing takes at least one-third more space than lower case, more fixation pauses are required for reading the same amount of material. The use of all capitals should be dispensed with in every printing situation.

This has not really bothered me. Using all caps does not affect image quality. And the titles in this forum are not necessarily important. I am mean I do not need to know if it is Daniela, Roberta or Stephanie to appreciate the images.

There are not "so many" posts in here that do as you claim. There are only a very, very few. And this was also true back in 2012 when you started the thread. I think that perhaps you were complaining about a problem that never existed.

By the way, all caps does not "grab my attention" any better than proper use of capitals and lower case characters. In fact, when scanning over a page of thread titles, I tend to "automatically not see" one that is written in all caps, in the rare instances where there is such a title.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

It's interesting that cognitive studies have demonstrated that we take longer to process the information content of all caps text than mixed-case text. Maybe the people who use all caps intuitively know this and rely on it to slow people down so they'll be more likely to absorb the message. :-)
