had too prop my eyes open with tooth picks...bed at 2am got up at 4am event started at 5am


So if God made Man & Woman....whats his excuse for Nikon...

You should try crewing the balloons. Event starts at 5am, translates as pilot briefing at 4am.

Note that (in the UK at least) it is not uncommon for pilots to not actually go to the pilot briefing, that is what crew are for. They take notes, then get everything together and finally wake the pilot up ten minutes before heading to the launch field.

With British weather being so unpredictable, it is not unusual for conditions to be deemed unflyable due to (usually) wind speeds. In which case it is just the crew who got up at an ungodly hour for no real reason, the pilot gets left to slumber on as long as they want.
