Hi,
I'm looking to buy a 20mm wide angle lens for my 20d. I don't use the kit zoom lens at all because it is too dark for manual or automatic focusing and I hate blurred photos. I was ready to buy the Canon 20mm f2.8 prime lens until I read the review telling me how distorted and purple the photos are especially at f2.8. On the other hand, the review on the Tamron 17-55 f2.8 are 'absolute perfect, tack sharp with no distortion at 20mm'.
I really don't need the zoom but find it hard to ignore these reviews. So, I'm wondering if it's just that they're comparing the 20mm canon to other primes and not to the Tamron zoom lens, or can the Tamron zoom really be better at 20mm than the Canon prime. What do you think? Steve.
