I am trying to find a tripod around $200, there is some good rebates going on until the end of the month so any help will be greatly appreciated. I want a ball head with some good legs... I am looking at Siriu, benro, vanguard, manfroto, and giotos. Please help

For that money, go with Manfrotto. Solid, will last a lifetime, a bit heavy, but very stable.

Without some info from you, folks won't be able to help much. Are you looking for a travel tripod (folds up small and lite weight) as to fit into a backpack or a carry on for airline travel? Or a tripod for studio/home use? The height of the tripod maybe of concern if you are a tall person.

I have a Benro 2970f which I have had for about 5 months and I really like it. No regrets for sure. Folds to 26 inches and weights 4.5 lbs. Very sturdy and capable of supporting 22 pounds (my 60D + 100-400 is about 4.5 lbs.) Got it on Amazon for about $150, which doesn't leave much for a ball head. I am using a gimbel head so am no help with the ball head. Hope you find something that fits your needs.

If you poke around here, you'll find a lot of people swear by the Manfrotto 055XProb and the 498 head combo. I had one and wish many time I hadn't sold the tripod.

Rick is correct, this is a solid set of legs, mega versatile, and only $30 over your stated budget with the current rebates. I would not hesitate on this one: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …PROB_Tripod_Legs_Kit.html (external link)

I would choose Benro or Sirui from the options you listed. Holga Camera carries both for good prices: http://www.holgacamera.com/ (external link)

Yup, for that price, definitely the manfrotto 055xprob since you say you don't mind the weight.

The things I really don't like about the Manfrotto are the lever locks, the teardrop shaped knobs on the head, and the proprietary quick release plate. Although this is a good value for the money, I'd still take the Sirui over the Manfrotto. I would choose a lager model than the 1005 though.

Is the 055 worth the more $$ vs. the 190 series? I really like the horizontal feature

I think so, The leg locks are easier to use and the horizontal feature is very easy to use, something that my Neotek (external link) lacks. I used my friends 055 and was instantly jealous.
