At bhphotovideo.com, dropped to $799.00.

With shipping it would be around $810 for me

Try this for even a cheaper price at BH. Hope you haven't ordered yet. $764 before shipping.

What do they normally go for in good to excellent used condition?

Jake

How did you find that price?

The 799 one has "APO HSM Autofocus Lens" and the $746 doesnt.

There is only one model of the lens in "current" production. It does indeed have the APO HSM Autofocus Lens. Take a peek at Sigma's website and you will see that even the old model had HSM also.

With a little coaxing, sigma4less has been known to provide the longer warranty cards.

As for the question of used pricing. On ebay at least, most being sold are the non-DG models and going for low $600s. I think a lot of that has to do with people checking the net and coming up with the DG model price which at B&H was over $800, that would make the $600 look like a good deal, when infact it was sold for $638 by Sigma4less and right around $700 at B&H. As usual good research is a must.

I'm still confused. The $764 and $799 sigmas priced at BHphotovideo are the exact same item?

well i had posted a question on finding the lowest priced canon 70-200 f/2.8L, but then someone posted why not get this lens. I thought well, its not an L. But i just read a bunch of reviews at fredmiranda.com and im starting to think maybe i should save $500.

I read the same thing, and thought the same thing. Unless someone manages to sway me toward spending the extra cash, that's probably how I'll go early next year.

Does anyone know if Sigma makes this lens with IS? I'm aslo wanting a 70-200 but prefer one with the IS. Canon's is about $1600 which way over my budget right now.

The only lens that Sigma has listed so far with OS (their form of what Canon calls IS) is an 80-400/4.5-5.6.
