I have a 100-400 that I use for wildlife and I have been very happy with the results. The 70-200 is faster and focuses quicker, but the reach of the 100-400 is much better and the stronger asset.

Kind of a bummer that you can only take the one but since I go to the UP at least once a year and most of the time twice, I would take the 100-400. IF you are headed for Seney, I am almost always using a 1.4 on my 400. Many times, I am using the 2x. I have been to Whitefish point and again, it was the 400 plus. The only time I got caught with my 400 and had to change was when we came across a moose about 30 yards from the side of the road. Even then, could do some very nice portrait shots. MOST of the time, even with deer, the 400 is my go to lens. We also saw quite a few sandhills and all were shot with the 400. If you are going through Munising and doing the pictured rocks you will definitely want a wider angle lens though. Have fun. It is a great place.

Take the 70-200 and you will regret it.
