Would this be a wise decision with my T3 camera? There have been times I needed more zoom and I couldn't. Could the 70-200 or the 100-400 still be used as a walkaround lens? I know they will be pretty heavy..

You could do it moreso with the 70-200, but it's certainly far from ideal. I know personally I would miss having something on the wider end while walking around. I find the trick is to look for pictures that suit whichever lens I've chosen to take with me and not to worry about the ones I can't get.
