Hmmm, generalizations, so easy to disprove! :) The Canon 60mm macro goes to 1:2, not 1:1 without extension. At $430 NYC street price, it isn't a budget lens.

The Canon EF-S 60mm Macro definitely does 1:1 magnification. You're thinking of the 50mm Macro.

You're right, I was thinking '50' but my fingers typed '60'. They sometimes have a mind of their own!

Would that Raynox work with either of the lenses I already have?

It has an adapter unit so that it works with any lens with a filter size of 52-67, so yes for all of your current lenses.

There is also a Raynox dcr-150 that is less powerful. Search Raynox here or online to see some sample images. If that is the route you choose, to see which power would suit you more.

I want it to use on a lens with a 77mm filter size without step-down rings, so it is out for me. Unfortunately the 500d for 77mm is about $150, so I'll just take my macro lens or extension tubes instead of using a light weight quick to clip/screw in add-on.

Thanks for Reading & Good Luck - Jim
