What's in your speedlite kit?

I'm just curious about what every bodies portable flash kit contains. I'm just learning lighting and am enjoying messing around with it in my garage.

My kit has:

1 580ex II
1 430ex II
2 stands
1 Monopod that doubles as a hand held light stand
1 tt1 and 1 tt5
stofen diffusers
1 Apollo Orb
1 Convertible umbrella
Gel set and straps

I'm probably going to be adding another 430ex II and 2 more TT5, and maybe a 16"-20" soft box, and maybe some reflectors, then call it complete. The light the Orb gives off is awesome, the downside is that it isn't very portable, so the soft box and reflectors would come in handy if I do some travelling. There's a huge sale on the 580 and 430's right now at my local store so I'm going to pick up a new flash on Wednesday.

Nice, do you often use all the 430ex II's at the same time, or do you keep them for back-ups at events. Mad jelly of the Alien Bees too.

ALL of my gear is in my sig... but for sake of listing Speedlites (and triggers), I've got:

(2) 580EXIIs
(3) 430EXIIs
(2) CyberSync CSTs (one for on camera, the other to use to trigger flashes while metering)
(5) CyberSync CSRBs

I have yet to use ALL of them at once, but I have used (4) of them for a group shot.

I use manual exposure settings on the copy machine

...A few umbrella brackets I own...

1 430EX II.
1 580EX II.
1 Minolta 118X, 2 f-stop auto ranges + manual.
1 Sunpak PZ-5000 AF w/weird Minolta/Sony mount w/Vello ISO hot shoe to Minolta/Sony adapter. Great flash. Manual to 1/64. Optical slave. Accurate auto-thyristor mode.
3 CS receivers and one transmitter.
1 very old Reflectasol square umbrella.
1 very new Westcott 45" umbrella.
A 6' and 8' Impact stand w/umbrella adapters.
FlashZebra flash stand that can be used to mount 2 flashes to umbrella adapter.
FlashZebra 24' E-TTL cord (solid).
Vello 6' (solid) and Canon 3' (old, cheap, plastic foot) E-TTL cords.

A disgusting mix of old and new mismatched items but fun for learning.

Oh, and a 380EX that's only good for point and shoot.

Setup 3-4 usually, really depends on size of room and layout
The bees will shortly take over some of that!

I use a single 550EX or 430EX flash on a Stroboframe Camera Flip Bracket. The flash is bounced and modified with a Joe Demb Flash Difuser Pro.

For anything more complicated, I will use my studio strobes. IMO the modeling lights of any studio strobe beats out the shooting by guess work of the Canon Speedlites in a studio venue.

550, 580, 2xSB900. Two small stands, one soft box, couple umbrellas. Skyports. I mostly use them static to light receptions, or one in a soft box held by my assistant.

1 x sb-600
1 x sb-700
1 x achiver 115a manual flash <- pretty useless atm
2 x ebay lightstands with umbrella adapters
1 x shoot through 33" umbrella
1 x silver reflective 33" umbrella
2 x home made snoots
2 x optical triggers
honey grids snoot/grid setup

all low budget but for the little OCF work i do it works fine, i would like to add some radio triggers down the road as the optical slaves and CLS system get unreliable outdoors

Canon Speedlite 420EX
2 Yongnuo speedlights (model in sig below, can't remember it as I type here!)
Polaroid kit that has two light stands and two white umbrellas with black/reflector covers
Neewer softbox that mounts on the Polaroid stands
Neewer 5-color reflector (36 or 42 inches?)
Cowboy Studios wireless triggers

This was definitely my attempt to get a very basic lighting setup at a budget price, but it has worked very well so far for my non-professional needs.

In fact, the other day I was taking some test shots of my 2 year old son indoors with the "full" setup (2 speedlights, softbox, umbrella and the reflector) and my 11 year old daughter told me I need to replace their current school photographer because my "pictures are better than theirs" and I am "waaaay less annoying than they are." I had a good laugh from that one.

My quite modest little gear list: 50D gripped | 135L | 50 1.4 | 50 1.8 | 85 1.8 | 28-105 3.5-4.5 | Speedlite 420EX | 2 Yongnuo 460ii | stands, 2 umbrellas, one softbox

I had put together a wish list of sorts because people were always asking about budget off-camera flash kits. the link is in my sig. an entire set with two flashes for around $350. considering a 580 EX II will set you back even more than that, it's a great little kit to get started.

Speedlite kit?

I guess not counting a pair of 580 EX II, a pair of FlexTT5s, a single MiniTT1, I have 4 Giottos light stands, a Manfrotto rear/floor stand, a Manfrotto super clamp, an Avenger C-Stand with extension arm, a Kacey Beauty dish with double flash bracket, a pair of Manfrotto umbrella mounts, 3-4 miscellaneous umbrellas (shoot through and bounce), a couple of Paul C Buff PLMs which can be used as umbrellas.

I've been meaning to get a couple of Speedlite capable softboxes, but they cost nearly as much as PCB softboxes for my PCB strobes, and I end up getting boxes for those instead.

1 x 430EX
2 x YN-565
2 x Phottix Stratos II Receivers
1 x Phottix Stratos II Transmitter
3 x Impact 9' Heavy duty & air-cushioned light stands
1 x PLM soft silver 60"
2 x Cowboy Studios 24"x24" Softbox
1 x 45" silver Westcott Umbrella
1 x 45" gold/silver and white reflector
3 x Impart 18 lbs sand bags

I'm in the works of getting some Pixel Kings to replace the Stratos IIs, then some more efficient softboxes to replace the Cowboy Studio ones.
