Looks like it's ready to shed it's skin.First thought it was an Adder,but have been corrected. Thanks Sandpiper.

Yes, looks like it is about to shed it's skin, going by the milky eyes.

It looks like a grass snake to me though, not an adder.

looks huge and dangerous. not a fan of snakes, but i do enjoy them in photos.
