You'll have to love widescreen.

My favorite quote so far from the livestream:

"Rut-roh, there may have been a crash. 5:26 PM | by eric.franklin
It's not a Microsoft event without a system crash. 5:26 PM | by David Hamilton"

Well, the cover doubles as a keyboard. That's pretty neat.

Core i5 Ivy Bridge processor in the W8 Surface will be great performance but how's battery life? I'm sure that's coming soon.

Such pitiful timing. Ballmer is holding in his hands the reason Metro will Vista in the marketplace.

This thing looks to be the equivalent of the 11" MacBook Air, but without details on battery life, RAM, SSD storage and price, it's difficult to compare. Apple rates the MBA at 5 hours of battery life, so I'd guess that's probably going to be it for the W8 Surface.

- Full version of Windows8
- Core i5 Ivy Bridge
- USB 3.0
- Tablet or desktop, you choose the form factor
- Digitizer, stylus compatible
- Thinner than an iPad, even with a built in kick stand
- Keyboard cover
- Larger screen than iPad, at full HD?
- Gorrila glass 2

A lot of that applies to the pro version only, not the ARM.

Don't laugh, everyone thought they were stupid for taking on Nintendo, Sega and PlayStation but Xbox is on top of that heap now. If they stick with it who knows what will happen.

They're only on top because theyve been taking massive losses on the entire Xbox unit since day one - that's not a great way to get on top.

I think the real goal for MS is to integrate mobile devices with everything around us. They have been working on Touch Surface for a long time and everyone should appreciate what developers put forth to help bring us into a new era of computing. Even those who hate Microsoft should be able to see some good in what they have done for the computing industry such as standardizing Plug & Play.

As an iPad user, I hope they succeed to make tablets grow faster and improve.

Sony has been taking losses on consoles since the PS1. The hardware isn't what makes the money in that case, it is all the stuff you sell to go on it.

Take a loss on photo frames, control what photos can go in them, take a cut on all photos sold for it. As long as people keep buying photos, your loss on the frame doesn't matter.
