Had the chance to shoot Cirque du Soleil: Quidam recently. Fun but difficult shoot mostly due low light and anticipating action. These were shot with either a 7D+70-200 2.8IS MK2 combo or 5Dmk2 + 300 2.8IS MK2. Don't believe anything was below 2500 iso. Here are a few samples:

Great shots. Was this during dress rehearsal? I asked (too late) about shooting a Cirque here in Atlanta

No, this was shot during the actual performance. Everything was shot from directly behind the soundboard. I was at the rehearsal, but there were no costumes and they were not using any performance lighting.

At rehearsal, the staff took us backstage to see the warmup area as well as costume and wardrobe. Was pretty interesting to see some of the behind the scenes work.

Thank you! I think the set up of the stage (since each show is different) and arena really depends on where you can shoot from and how close you can get to the action. When I shot Cirque du Soleil: Dralion a few years ago, they had the photographers in a corner of the arena, which was farther from the stage. For Quidam, they did not have nearly as many floor seats as Dralion, most likely because of the soundboard, so I was closer to the stage.
