Seriously, no magic PP. I'm quite certain I may be the worlds laziest post processor :) I use Canon DPP, then Photoshop elements 9 to resize & sharpen.
I've just started shooting in raw, as I'm still learning my new camera, and all I do is set my own picture style. +1 on contrast & saturation, leave the sharpness alone. That's it.
Import into Canon DPP. It's great, because it remembers your camera settings, and the colours it produces are fantastic. To my eye anyway. I can't get close to the colours of DPP in Lightroom, even after ages of fiddling around.
Maybe lift the shadows a touch, or adjust the exposure a little to suit. That's it. Open in elements 9, resize and sharpen. About 40% sharpening, 0.8 radius & 1 on threshold.
Done.

I find the best way to get nice photos, is remember the basics. Get the initial exposure as close as possible to correct. Don't shoot into the Sun, morning and afternoon light is nicer, and focus correctly.
Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the tip. Love your car shots.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

This thread is so poisonous...but i love this poison...

I'm looking for a lens to replace my 24-70 as walkabout lens as carrying a 24-70 attached to 5dmk2 is quite a burden for me. I own a 50mm f1.8 II and consider upgrade it to canon or sigma 50mm f1.4 for batter focusing. Its take me quite some time to consider to go for which 1 until i come into this thread. Just after i go through all the post here, i'd make the decision to go for this pancake and just bought it today. Really love this pancake so much now. Hopefully i got the chance go out with this cake soon to really try it out...

I have been really thinking about one of these lately. Especially since I just recently bought my wife a SL1 and she wants to be a second shooter at a friend's wedding Im shooting. I think the low apeture will be good for her. I also found one at the local shop in the used bin for 120. I think if its still there at lunch tomorrow it will be mine.

I bought a used one off eBay for almost 1/2 price. Was worried about that a bit, but the lens arrived looking brand new. A few quick test shots, and I am in love! Here are a few shots - original size and cropped with Picasa.

A few more, cropped on Picasa. I should add that I did no other adjustments other than crops, hand held, too, no tripod - I love the color and bokeh - best inexpensive investment I've made! (lens is used on a 50D).
