I notice though when they are trying to get a shot of a Hell's Angel or Finks bikie club member leaving a courtroom they stand well back with their 70-200's haha Lloyd

I think this is an unwarranted apologia for photographers behaving badly. Just because a person has a successful career as an actor does not automatically mean that he should expect to surrender all privacy and human dignity. The photographer is an award-winning photojournalist who has covered news all over the world. He's a professional, not some idiot paparazzi.
