Remind me next time I go to Assateague to bathe in Off and hang a citronella candle from my tripod's weight hook. My goodness but I am bitten. I kid you not, I have over 40 mosquito bites. Anyways! Went back to Assateague Island National Seashore in MD for a daytrip on Saturday. I skipped Chincoteague due to time restraints and because I didnt find much there last time.

I managed to find foals, horses laying on the beach, lots of paints, stallions in stand off, etc. I even found that mostly white paint stallion that I wasnt able to get a portrait of last time! If this keeps up I think Assateague might officially start to be my favorite place to photograph.

I have more than 50 photos of the wild horses on my site: www.TorvaTerra.com (external link). I picked my fav 8 to post below.

1.) Filly on the beach. The ocean is just on the other side of the steep dune in the bg.

2.) I love the water droplets on her face.

3.) Siesta time.

4.) So sleepy... I also have photos of this filly totally konked out flat on the ground fast asleep.

5.) The band that this guy led was far off in the other dunes near the beach. Way left of where the mares were napping.

6.) Sunset light during a stand off.

7.) I spent most of my time waiting while they ate for one to lift a head long enough to grab a portrait. Synchronized nomming.

8.) The mostly white stallion that I looked for all day. Found him far off in the bushes and he was kind enough to pose for my efforts.

Thank you! :)

I love the paints. I didn't have much of them the first time.

Lovely shots of these majestic creatures. Would love to be amongst these for a day or two.
