I also used a new flash diffuser I designed that works a little differently from others I have seen. I wanted a way of eliminating hot spots in the output, so I designed it to use bounce flash instead of direct flash. The result is perfectly smooth light output over the entire surface of the diffuser. I haven't used it much yet, but all the shots in this series use it, and I really like the light from it so far. It is just slightly brighter on one side than the other, so you still get a little bit of texture out of the shots, even if the diffuser is pointed straight forward.

If you're interested in a tutorial on how I made it, check out the Flickr link below. I may put a post in the Macro Discussion message board as well to help anyone interested in this design:
