Almost never share now, but one of my best friends got married! So I thought it was a cause to celebrate! I was the best man, but also the hired photogapher. It's not easy to do double duty. They looked for another photographer but didn't like anyone else's photos, so they ask me to do it. They insisted on paying my full price, so it wasn't a budget thing, I guess they just really wanted my vision. So I basically just shot prep and formals, and Big Mike here on POTN covered the rest of it and assisted me during formals. Thanks Mike!

All photos taken on my trusty 40D. I used a combo of the 17-55, 10-22, 30 1.4, and 50 1.2.

1. They live right across the street from me. So this was the first time I got to shoot the prep and dress while still in my pyjamas! hahaha.

2. It was supposed to be an outdoor wedding, but it was raining hard that day so the wedding got moved into... my 900sq ft studio! Yikes! Good thing there were only 40 people! After the ceremony, it was only a light drizzle so we shot photos in the back alley behind the studio.

4. And a couple shots inside the building my studio is in.

5. After the lunch reception, we went out to the park where the ceremony was SUPPOSED to be.

6. The sky was still threatening, but it held off until we were done shooting.

7. These next two are my favs of the day.

Cheers! Thanks for looking!

For pulling double duty you done quite well! Is the 40D your primary camera? Reason I ask is because I have a wedding I'm a second shooter for this weekend and I'm using a 40D and a 17-55 f/2.8.

I really like all the pictures!

Thanks.

My 40D is definitely my favourite camera. It's the one I use the most by FAR. For weddings though, I usually use a dual card camera as a primary just for safety. But sometimes when I'm feeling brave (or stupid, take your pick) I use my 40D as my primary wedding camera just so I can feel like "I'm home". Since I wasn't covering the ceremony or reception, I figured why not, I'll only pack the 40D and leave the full frame crap at home. I pack lighter shooting crop, my back thanks me.

I would feel comfortable shooting an entire wedding as a primary with only a 40D+17-55, in a shooting sense. But the risk of a single card slot definitely would linger in the back of my mind.

Thanks for the reply Lloyd. Having extra memory and batteries is my main concern but you bring up a good point. What I plan on doing is rotating the cards often to hopefully prevent issues with the possibility of losing images.

Again great work!

Very very ncie photos indeed! Stormy day definitely gave a different feeling as well which I liked and would have been pleased with. I love my 40D. I actually want to shoot with it again using the heavy 7D so much. Poor thing is so abused being on deployment. May have to get something new when I get back in. ;)

The one in the building is my fav. All the shots could have turned out beautifulk but generic like others they got married in a park. It was a total change and something unqie. I want to see Big Mike's though of a wedding in the studio.

Yeah, I usually shoot a 1 series as a primary at weddings so the 40D is MUCH MUCH kinder to my body! Even Big Mike said he gets some pretty good aches using the 70-200 too long. It's not a matter of muscle and strength, it's repeated movements and sustained positions that cause the aches.

Big Mike did a great job, as usual. :)

Wow! I can see why they insisted on having you shoot! You did a great job adapting to the conditions and making something spectacular out of what could have been a major disappointment. The second shot with the umbrella is superb! Great job. I can only hope to become as insightful a shooter as you are.

Cheers,
Greg

What do you mean by the original? You mean, the unprocessed version?
