Looking for this range for my 5D II

I know the EF-S lenses from Canon do not fit the FF body. But, what from the 3rd party companies do? Or, is the 17-40mm my only choice in my budget. Budget is around $500

I would go for the 17-40. In your price range, look for a used one.

Sony A1, 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II, 70-200mm F/2.8 GM OSS II, 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS, 35mm f/1.4 GM, Viltrox 16mm f/1.8, 1.4X TC, Flashpoint flashes

That's where I'm at right now. Is there even anything worth looking at in that focal range for the 5D?

i'm guessing you're talking used for $500.00. i just bought a 17-40 yesterday and paid almost 800.00 for it. either i got gigged or you're definitely going to look at a third party lens.

There are some 3rd party UWA for FF, but there either poorer or more expensive 2.8 models.

17-40L is really the goto wide lens if you dont need 2.8

Just talked to a friend and he has a Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 he may sell me. I'm pleased by the archive shots and his shots as well. So, these are probably the only 2 lenses I'll pick from. Thanks guys. :)

I would save up for the 17-40. A used/refurb one is not too far out of your current budget.

If I was in your shoes I'd get the L. Sigma makes a 12-24 that is for a full frame. I think that is the widest (at least one of the widest) zooms for a full frame. Again I'd go L.

I could be wrong, but I thought I read that on a FF camera, only the 24mm end works on the Sigma?

If you paid 800.00 for a used 17-40 you did get "gigged". You see them all the time for sale here 550$-600$

Most people with "L'' lenses take very good care of them. Second hand is the way to go...paid 700$ for my 24-105mm.

The 12-24 is a fully FF compatible lens. 12mm is extremely wide though, I'm not sure it's comparable to the 17-40.
