Looking for this range for my 5D II
I know the EF-S lenses from Canon do not fit the FF body. But, what from the 3rd party companies do? Or, is the 17-40mm my only choice in my budget. Budget is around $500

Jun 19, 2012 21:56 | #2 I would go for the 17-40. In your price range, look for a used one. Sony A1, 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II, 70-200mm F/2.8 GM OSS II, 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS, 35mm f/1.4 GM, Viltrox 16mm f/1.8, 1.4X TC, Flashpoint flashes

Jun 19, 2012 22:24 | #6 Just talked to a friend and he has a Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 he may sell me. I'm pleased by the archive shots and his shots as well. So, these are probably the only 2 lenses I'll pick from. Thanks guys.

I think that is the widest (at least one of the widest) zooms for a full frame. Again I'd go L. Thanks for Reading & Good Luck - Jim

I could be wrong, but I thought I read that on a FF camera, only the 24mm end works on the Sigma? 5D Mark 3 | BG-E11 grip | 35mm F1.4 L | 24-105mm F4 L | 100mm Macro F2.8 L | 580EXii

If you paid 800.00 for a used 17-40 you did get "gigged". You see them all the time for sale here 550$-600$ Canon EOS T3 w/ 24-105mm L , Sony Cybershot G series

The 12-24 is a fully FF compatible lens. 12mm is extremely wide though, I'm not sure it's comparable to the 17-40.
