Watched your video. Just curious did you use the touch feature to set it to track your face when you started to video? I have one of these on order, but I use 3 Canon HFG10s and you have to click the screen on your track point (face/object/etc) or it will get random much like what your video displayed here.

Canon 5d MKII, 40d gripped - Canon 70-200mm 2.8 L IS, 50mm ,85mm, Sigma 2.8, Tamron 17-35 2.8, etc.. Adobe Master Collection CS5.5, Lightroom 3.0, Canon XH-A1 Video

Tharmsen good to see you posting again! I thought you were really ticked at Canon and was going to move to Nikon?

Thanks for uploading the video. The pictures look great.

I have one on order with the STM lens as well - hopefully the results are better with that lens

Thanks man, just been quiet and lurking. I'm still with Canon. Some time back they posted a firmware update for my 1D4 and it resolved all the issues I was having. I've not updated since then for fear it would re-break things. :)

I did touch my face for the focus point, the camera was still struggling to find focus on my face as I moved around, but the tracking box continued to appear on the screen around my face. I'm hoping the STM lens will help with some of this.

I talked to a Canon rep today who happened to be in one of the camera stores I was visiting.

He says that while the T4i will AF with most Canon lenses, "continuous AF" in movie mode only works with the new STM lenses. That is what I understood initially and it's been confirmed by a Canon rep. He said the new 18-135 STM lens should be available in the next two to three weeks.

That's all I got! :)

How was the new built in stereo microphone? Sounded like it picked up a lot of wind. Is the wind filter feature always on?

I haven't found a wind filter setting. I doubt it would make much difference, given the location of the mics and the fact they lack any external wind filters you're going to get wind noise on windy days.

Can you do some high ISO test shots.. 2-3 photos of different locations / subjects at 6400 ISO.. and some at 3200ISO?... I rarely go above 3200 on my 5D3 because there is enough light.. so im particularly interested in seeing 3200-6400 shots with this camera SOOC.

Thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts and the pictures on this new model. I've been a long time lurker and just registered now so that I could post in and follow this thread. Having just purchased a T3i last fall I'm torn on whether to go with the T4i or try to hold off for a little while. The lack of autofocus during video with the T3i is probably my biggest frustration with it and it seems that the T4i might resolve that assuming I pick one up with the STM lens. I had been eyeing a 18-135mm lens for my T3i (right now have a 18-55 and 55-250) anyway so it seems like if I"m going to go that route I might as well pick up the new camera and lens in a bundle and sell the T3i.

Looking forward to seeing your impressions of the T4i with the STM lens. I fear that the longer I wait to sell the T3i the lower it's value will drop but on the other side until I see some first hand reviews on the T4i's autofocus during videos I might as well sit on the sideline. Thanks again for taking the time to share your impressions.

^ damn.. 3200/6400 shots look pretty clean.. would be more helpful if they were taken in the dark / had more black in the shots to see how the noise looks in the black colour, but from the looks of it.. looks like a good camera!

Will be buying this as my back up camera in future!

Thanks again Tharmsen, definitely a noticeable improvement over T2i iso noise.
