Speaking of "warmish spring days", one of our daughters asked if they could play outside in the sprinkler (one week ago we had snow).

Anyone using a screen protector for the touch screen? Any good ones out there?

I put one on mine. PITA to install. Ruined the first one trying to get the air bubbles out. Finally got the second one on with only a couple of small bubbles. It shows finger smudges worse than than the screen, itself. Not sure if it's worth it.

That's a great shot. Just curious, which lens did you use for that?

I've been using some cheapo universals from Walmart. They pretty much suck for bubbles and clarity but are cheap enough to be disposable. My LCD still looks like new and doesn't affect functionality of the touch screen so it does what I want it to. Zagg has one too. I use them on my phone and it is great but haven't sprung for the camera...yet.

Anyway, I've shot some more with the T4i and am getting used to the feel of it. At first I was having problems with the shrunken controls (I've got pretty big hands), but the fit and feel of the T4i is finally starting to grow on me. All I've done so far is set it for back button focus, figure out where I needed to go to adjust FEC, turn the dial to M and I'm good to go for photos. Now I'm thinking that I ought to at least learn the basics of shooting video with it since that capability is there, I'm not really into doing video but it won't cost me anything to give it a try.

I found the "feel" of the camera to be so much more to my liking after adding the battery grip. Might be something to spend more $$ on...:)

It's funny you should mention that, as I had purchased one on ebay and it just arrived yesterday. Definitely makes it nicer for shooting vertical. But now the camera barely fits in my ancient camera bag (which is so old it has loops for film canisters) along with my XSi, flash, and small lens collection, so I suppose I need to start shopping for a new bag. (Will this never end ?!?!?! )

I'm sure in all the pages this question is probably answered... but wow... lots of pages to scan through. So excuse me for asking these questions if they've been answered.

1. If you are coming from a Canon 20D... would you go for the T3i or is the T4i a better option for the money? Meaning, is there a big enough difference between the two to warrant getting the T4i?

2. My 20D lenses will fit the T3i/T4i correct? Probably a dumb question but I went there anyway. lol

3. if I read correctly.... the T3i/T4i's take SD cards? My 20D has the CompactFlash card.

Thanks for your time! It's appreciated! =)

I'd bet there's plenty of opinions on this, but you probably ought to go to Canon's website and compare the specs and features and decide if the added features are worth it to you. I just got my T4i a week ago and so far I think it's well worth the money.

Any EF or EF-S lens, plus the new STM lenses.

Yep.

Prices for the T4i are nearly identical to the T3i now so the differences are all but moot. Why not get the T4i?
