After much consideration, I've decided to put my Camaro on the back burner until I have the serious money required to build it the way I want. It also frees up some room for me to play if I move it to storage (currently looking at my free options...but having to pay won't stop me). Time for one of those garage studios everyone loves. It shall also double as my man-cave (trying for a 2nd kind = I lose my office). So here's what I have to work with:

It's actually surprisingly big for a one car garage. It's very, very deep, which is nice and just sufficiently wide for my purposes. However, it's not very tall...8 foot 3 inch at the tallest, but down at the door I lose 10 inches from the door rails. I will probably paint the rails black and tack black fabric to the ceiling above it and shoot around them. Anyway, it's 28 feet deep, I gain another 3 feet by removing the work bench...or relocating it. But I think 28 feet should do. 3 feet for backdrop, 5 feet subject set-back, 3 feet for camera = 17 feet camera to subject distance. It's also 10 feet 10 inches wide so I should be able to use a fairly wide backdrop. Since I'm going to use wall mounted boom arms I can probably get close to 9-10 feet wide using gobos as well.

And here's the worlds worst and quickest rendering ever. I will have my computer and desk out there, a monitor/lcd, a small love seat, slide-lock wood flooring and a section of carpet. It's not heated, but I have an closed element electric heater I've been using out there that works shockingly well!

I will update as I go along. It will be interesting to see what the final product looks like compared to that horrible rendering!
Step 1: clean it out - starts tomorrow.
