Double check the battery. My 450d battery would sometimes come out of the charger after allegedly being fully-charged and not be charged at all or only just a bit.

XT uses the same batteries at the 10-50D, right? Flat on the contact side, two raised humps on the top?

My charger started saying that my batteries were fully charged, but they weren't actually charging at all. I had to put a small weight down on top of the battery to get it to seat properly and charge. It's worth a shot, trying to get it to go.

No, the Rebels dont use BP-11's. But I had that problem, maybe the rebel batteries too?

You're right, NB-2LH versus BP-511A for the others. Newer Rebels use yet another battery.

Still, the issue could be the same - the charger may not be making proper contact, and it's worth trying to press the battery down to see if it'll charge.

Other than that, a fresh (new) battery is the next test option and if that fails, the camera is likely toast.

How long did you let the battery sit uncharged?

Sometimes if you let it sit too long without charging it will no longer accept a charge, like a car battery...Try a new battery.
