It would be cool if you could focus on something at 135mm and then zoom out to 18mm and see if the focus is retained. Frank Hollis - Retired mass spectroscopist

I'm waiting to see if the Canon store was fibbing about it being an STM. Supposed to have a 67mm filter ring, but there is no lens shade available at this time, unless there is one for the earlier version. Canons to the left, Canons to the right,

At 18mm in bright light a defined edge may have some pretty obvious CA. I reckon that the focal length range, super-IS, FTM focusing and a reasonable price will make it too tempting. I may even end up selling the 24-105. I don't think it is FTM...I also kind of doubt it is parfocal as the T4i will be able to just keep adjusting the focus as you zoom so Canon wouldn't have to design the lens to be that way. Jul 13, 2012 20:48 | #23 Yeah, it has some for sure, the pic of the people eating, look at the pole in the upper right, and that is stopped down to f/10, also I see it in your space coast shot. The non-STM has the same issue. What other lenses do you have to try on it? Curious how a Ring USM reacts to the full time AF in video. Cameras: 7D2, S100

Once focus was set, it worked better zooming out than zooming back in. I certainly became more aware of my own shortcomings as a videographer. Canons to the left, Canons to the right,

Heres one of my daughter chasing bubbles, I don't hear the lens at all. For comparison there's one in the videos with an F4L 24-105mm. This one was shot using the camera's HDR mode Sony α7RIII flickr

I had a confrontation with an RV awning retracting arm 6 days ago. While I have a surprisingly hard head, the skin is fragile, what with no hair to buffer blows. Don't doubt- it's not FTM. Actually- it's fly by wire- and electrically disconnected from what I can tell- when the switch is in AF. Quite sure that it's not parfocal either. There's nothing on the lens to indicate any kind of focus movement- but you can tell it focuses a little bit from say 18 going to 135 on the same target from the same distance. Going the other way is harder to see.
